:: What time does the four day trip depart and return from and to Uyuni?
The jeep leaves Uyuni at 10:
30AM on day one and returns at roughly 2:00PM on day four. If itīs a 3 day tour than you
return about 6pm.
|
:: How high does the four day trek take you to?
You will reach altitudes in excess of
5000m so ensure you are
not prone to altitude sickness or bring all necessary medication.
|
:: How much water will we need?
We recommend at least 2 liters per person per day, but it really
depends on how much you are used to.
|
:: How can we get to Uyuni from La Paz?
We recommend using the train from Oruro (3 hours from La Paz)
that leaves on Tuesdays and Fridays at 3:30 and arrives at approx 10:00pm in Uyuni. Train
tickets are US$17 for first class including bus transfer to Oruro. Alternatively you will
find daily buses direct from La Paz to Uyuni that may turn out to be quicker and cheaper.
New tourist bus Todo Turismo is $33 dollars for the overnight La Paz - Uyuni express.
- Flights are starting this May or June in Uyuni's new
airport.
|
:: How do we get to Uyuni from elsewhere?
There are daily connections with the nearby towns of Potosi,
Tupiza, and Oruro so you can be sure to get here from any direction.... although don't
expect first class travel!
|
:: Are there any extra costs involved with the tours?
On all of the tours there is a small charge of 15Bs
(2 US dollars) to
enter the protected Isla Incahuasi. There is a further charge of 30Bs (US$3.75) is made to
enter the national park area of Laguna Colorada.
|
:: How can we pay?
All tours are priced in US$ and we will happily accept either US
or Bolivianos at the current exchange rate.
|
:: How many people are taken in the tour jeeps?
The Landcruisers can take a maximum of 6 travellers in a group
tour along with the driver/guide and group cook.
